E. Flood Carlson.

After retirement, Mary E. Flood Carlson’s mission focused on discovering Cemetery Directories on site. She and her spouse “tromped every size cemetery from the back roads of Wisconsin to U.S. National Cemeteries to Ireland” before volunteering for FindAGrave.

“The highlight of the cemetery history project is the dedication of a new historical monument at the cemetery for Julia Rolette Brunet, spouse of Jean Brunet, namesake of Brunet Falls. Julia was buried at the Pioneer Cemetery close to the Chippewa River. In 1947, Julia and eight others were exhumed and moved to the Cornell Cemetery. We discovered her burial site, but the stone was 6 inches below the sod.”

We will also eliminate all fines on patron’s accounts up until now.
This means everyone will have a fresh start with a zero balance. 

These policy updates are an investment in our patrons and our community.  We do not want to turn anyone away due to an inability to pay

]]> Get Internet for Less https://cornellpl.org/get-internet-for-less/ Fri, 21 Jan 2022 17:41:10 +0000 https://cornellpl.org/?p=803 The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) replaced the Emergency Broadband Benefit program.

The ACP provides:

  • a discount of up to $30/$75 per month toward internet service for eligible households
  • a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price.

Enrollment in the ACP is now open for households with at least one member qualifying under any of the eligibility criteria here.
